"Extinct" is the new album from Aussie hard rockers ROADKILL, their first for MelodicRock Records, not the typical band signed by the label as this 5-piece play old school' high octane, classic hard rock.

It will come as no surprise given the band’s homeland that AC/DC loom large in the band’s sound, yet the comparison comes mostly in the intense riff attack, not in the overall style.
Roadkill is more focused in groove and the vocals are clean, in the traditional British hard rock vein. You can hear this especially in 'Wishful Thinking' and the bluesier 'Death Comes Calling'.

There's a neat little riff monster in 'What The Hell', I hear a touch of the mighty '80s Judas Priest in the guitar solos on 'Ready For War', whilst 'Down And Out' is a broken hard rocker with a dark atmosphere.
'Killing Yourself To Live' pack lots o energy, perhaps the most 'American' sounding track on the CD, same with the heavy and jumping 'Hellbound'.
Also 'Head On' brings to mind middle-Eighties US metal with some Fifth Angel on it, with lyrics paying homage to the glory days of the genre, and of course, tons of guitar solos.

ROADKILL - Extinct (2016) inside

Roadkill has been around the block for more than ten years, but that has been an Australian block only.
Their brand of old-fashioned hard rock / traditional metal is especially designed for sweaty, packed clubs. I'm sure that's the environment where they work best, Roadkill are definitely a band you’d want to see live in a small venue.
All songs in "Extinct" are riff monster rhinos (as seen in the cover art) but despite the album is very well recorded with a really clean sound I think they've lost some spark into the studio. Anyway, there's some pretty good moments on this album.
For no frills classic hard rock, look no further.
