Roger Harry Daltrey CBE (Londres, 1 de março de 1944) é um cantor de rock, mais conhecido como fundador e vocalista da banda britânica The Who. Além de seu trabalho com o grupo, Daltrey obteve grande êxito como artista solo e ator, participando de diversos filmes, peças de teatro e séries de televisão. 

Biografia.

Primórdios.

Daltrey nasceu na área de Shepherd's Bush em Londres, a mesma vizinhança de classe média de onde surgiram seus colegas de banda Pete Townshend e John Entwistle. Ele demonstrou um futuro acadêmico promissor na escola estadual inglesa, ficando entre os primeiros de sua classe nos exames que o levaram à Acton County Grammar School. Seus pais, Harry e Irene, esperavam que Roger continuasse os estudos até a faculdade, mas obedecer regras e aprender com seus professores não estava nos planos do auto proclamado "rebelde de escola". 

Ele construiu sua primeira guitarra de um bloco de madeira e formou uma banda chamada The Detours. Quando seu pai lhe deu uma guitarra Epiphone em 1959, Daltrey se tornou o guitarrista base do grupo. Logo depois, não se interessando em nada além do rock and roll, foi expulso do colégio, se tornando metalúrgico durante o dia enquanto praticava e se apresentava noite adentro com a banda em casamentos, pubs e clubes masculinos. Nesta época o Detours consistia de Roger na guitarra base, Pete Townshend na guitarra rítmica, John Entwistle no baixo, Doug Sandom na bateria e Colin Dawson nos vocais. Depois que Dawson deixou o grupo, Daltrey assumiu os vocais e Townshend passou para a guitarra base. 

No princípio Daltrey era o líder da banda, ganhando a reputação de usar seus punhos para exercer controle quando necessário, apesar de sua baixa estatura. Era ele quem geralmente selecionava as músicas a serem apresentadas, incluindo canções dos Beatles, de artistas da Motown, James Brown e alguns clássicos do rock. Em 1964 ele também decidiu na escolha de um novo nome para o grupo, nome este sugerido por Richard Barnes, colega de quarto de Townshend: "The Who". 

The Who.

Com o primeiro contrato de estúdio firmado em 1965, Townshend passou a compor material original para o grupo, enfraquecendo aos poucos a liderança de Daltrey. Enquanto Townshend se transformava em um dos mais refinados compositores do rock, os vocais de Daltrey foram se tornando o veículo através do qual as visões de Townshend eram expressadas, e ele ganhou uma reputação inigualável de vocalista. Seu hábito de girar o microfone pelo fio durante os shows da banda se tornou a marca registrada de sua exuberância. No auge do sucesso do The Who, Daltrey era o rosto e a voz da banda enquanto eles se definiam como os últimos rebeldes de uma geração em processo de mudança. 

Apesar de tudo, Daltrey via-se repetidamente tendo de lutar para se manter no The Who ao mesmo tempo que tentava evitar a dissolução do grupo, se envolvendo em brigas com os outros integrantes e até mesmo sendo expulso por um breve período em 1965 após brigar com Keith Moon. Mas com o sucesso do compacto "My Generation" e uma agenda de shows a ser cumprida, a banda não viu outra alternativa a não ser permitir sua volta, com a condição de que Roger se tornasse um sujeito mais pacífico. A partir de então ele se transformou no alvo predileto das brincadeiras de Keith. 

Também eram frequentes os conflitos com Pete Townshend sobre a liderança e a direção a ser tomada pelo The Who, conflitos que acabaram culminando em agressão física durante um ensaio de Quadrophenia em 1973. Mas, foi necessário apenas um soco para Townshend cair desmaiado. A dupla voltaria a se bater em 1975, desta vez por meio de entrevistas a semanários musicais. As diferenças aparentemente só chegaram a termos após a morte de Entwistle em 2002 e a prisão de Townshend em 2003, quando Daltrey demonstrou apoio irrestrito ao colega. Em 2005 ele voltou a morar em Londres, na mesma vizinhança de Richmond onde Townshend vive, e atualmente os dois trabalham em mais um álbum do The Who. 

Tem como passatempo a pesca de trutas, tendo mesmo criado uma estância turística dedicada a esta atividade. 

Carreira solo.

Embora considerasse o The Who sua principal ambição na vida, Daltrey chegou a lançar oito álbuns solo, carreira que ele definia como sendo apenas um "passatempo". 

Daltrey, de 1973, veio após lançamentos individuais de John Entwistle e Pete Townshend. Emplacou um sucesso entre as cinco mais no Reino Unido, "Giving It All Away", além de entrar no Top 50 nos Estados Unidos. Foi também a estreia de Leo Sayer como compositor, que posteriormente seguiria carreira musical. 

Outro lançamento de impacto foi McVicar, de 1980. Trilha sonora do filme homônimo, foi produzido por Daltrey e contou com participações de todos os integrantes do The Who - Townshend, Entwistle e Kenney Jones - sendo quase considerado um lançamento da banda. Foi o álbum mais vendido de Daltrey. A música Without Your Love fez sucesso no Brasil, principalmente alavancada por estar incluída na novela Baila Comigo da Rede Globo. 

Seu último sucesso foi com Under a Raging Moon de 1985, que alcançou repercussão graças ao compacto "After The Fire" e a faixa título, uma homenagem ao baterista Keith Moon, falecido em 1978. 

Carreira de ator.

Entre suas participações em mais de 30 longa metragens, Daltrey estrelou os filmes McVicar, sobre o assaltante transformado em escritor, Tommy, que narra as desventuras de um garoto cego, mudo e surdo, e Liztomania, sobre o compositor húngaro Franz Liszt. No teatro, Daltrey participou de montagens do Mago de Oz e Um Conto de Natal. Já na TV, foi convidado especial em inúmeras séries e especiais, como "That 70's Show" Sliders, Witchblade e Highlander. Em 2003 ele estrelou a série televisiva Extreme History, onde recriava as experiências vividas pelos grandes exploradores da história. Texto: Wikipédia.

“Stranger in Me” is a song by Australian pop group Pseudo Echo. The song was released in November 1984 as the fourth and final single from their debut studio album, Autumnal Park (1984). The song peaked at number 58 on the Australian Kent Music Report in December 1984.

The 12″ is also known as “New York Dance Mix” which was released only in Australia and New Zealand featuring remixes by Steve Thompson.

Mimi Baez Fariña — певица, автор песен и общественный деятель. Является младшей из трех дочерей мексиканского физика Albert Baez; приходится сестрой фолк-певице Joan Baez. From the bloke who brought us the 1991 hit “People Are Still Having Sex,” William LaTour comes over a bit like a polite Revolting Cocks, with plenty of Erasure influences. This was released in 1993. Produced by Mark Picchiotti and Teri Bristol who did the first and last mixes. So the album version and Howie B and “Critter” Newell are all industrial-lite in their sound. Whilst Maurice Joshua (the original Acid House producer) adds a bit of a acid bleep to proceedings. The song is best kept to the dub version to avoid the cheesy vocals.

A bit late and literally just shared from Mike B.

From 1990 and the sound of New Order on the A-side “Touched By The Hand Of God”, “True Faith”, “Bizarre Love Triangle” …..basically all the classics on Side 1 and not too messed with.

Side 2 starts off with “The Perfect Kiss” and goes through a “spot the intro” phase before going with “Shell Shock” and “The Perfect Kiss” and finishing on a phazed “Blue Monday” and finishing with………….”The Perfect Kiss”

So where is Bronski Beat in all this?

An interesting mini-mix, “Why” mixed with “Hit That Perfect Beat” segue into “Smalltown Boy” and “Why” ending with “I Feel Love” with Marc Almond
