JOE BONAMASSA - British Blues Explosion Live
Cada día que pasa ando más convencido de que Joe Bonamassa se ha empeñado en apuntalar algún tipo de record Guinness o algo parecido, porque su capacidad de trabajo no parece conocer límites. Casi sin tiempo de asimilar algunos de sus lanzamientos rápidamente nos vemos en las manos con otro. La cantidad de material editado por el guitarrista, bien en solitario, con Beth Hart o BBC cada día crece más y no hablemos ya de los discos en directo a los que parece haberse aficionado de una manera abrumadora. Bonamassa además de mucho material propio, siempre ha sido proclive a demostrar su amor por los clásicos del blues grabándolos. Consigue alternar la necesaria composición suya como base de fuerza con la que juzgar su talento con la vieja escuela de versiones del rock. Raro es el maestro que no ha sido homenajeado por su guitarra y esta vez toca revisitar aquel maravilloso tiempo de la British Blues Explosion, auténtica guarida de grandes guitar heroes que han marcado el devenir de este música que tanto amamos.
Grabado en directo (de nuevo) Bonamassa nos presenta un doble cd/dvd lleno de inmortales que todos conocemos, de riffs que hemos tarareado hasta la saciedad para complacencia suya y nuestra. Es evidente que siempre se acompaña de grandes músicos, por lo que es una gozada deleitarse con el sonido del disco, disfrutar de cada instrumento perfectamente ejecutado, acompasado. Por supuesto Bonamassa no se queda atrás. Es cierto que es un guitarrista al que muchos consideran sobrevalorado y otros adoran con pleitesía. A mi siempre me ha parecido un muy buen guitarrista que a base de trabajo (y quizás un poco de suerte, la de estar en el momento adecuado) se ha convertido en la cara más conocida de una nueva generación de guitarristas de blues rock. Como muestra de que Bonamassa es un guitarrista que no defrauda es la colección de solos que se escuchan en este doble directo.
Desde la inicial "Beck's bolero" podemos disfrutar de doce canciones a las que hay que reconocer que el guitarrista ha sabido desprender de un sabor excesivamente añejo, aunque claro, la inmortalidad de estas composiciones cuando el ejecutor sabe lo que hace, ayudan mucho y bien. El único pero que encuentro normalmente en el trabajo de Bonamassa es la labor vocal, ojo que el guitarrista se defiende mucho más que bien en esos menesteres siempre he creído que si se centrase en su labor instrumental y se hiciese acompañar de un buen vocalista ganaría aún más, como pasa cuando lo hace con Beth Hart o Glenn Hughes, pero bueno, eso posiblemente sea una opinión personal.

Why let some barking dog get in the way of your good (bad) time? Capricorns don't fuck with no damn dogs, and they seem positively optimistic.
Truth be told, Capricorns will, on occasion "fuck with a damn dog" and allow some vocals into the mix, as evidenced on the third track here, which features a top dog, Eugene Robinson(of Oxbow). So, I just wanted you to be aware.
Dogs aside, Capricorns specialize in a real real potent version of instrumental heavy wallop, that works on wave after wave of gross sludgy riff after gross sludgy riff, with a math-y kind of aftertaste, set off by the occasional quiet interlude. I mean, your mom is going to say, "turn off that heavy metal". But you're mom is probably a cunt who couldn't tell the difference between American Heritage and Old Man Gloom (no offense to your mom), so she should respectfully shut the fuck up about what's going on in the sanctity of your bedroom (ever consider moving out though? For real?).
If you want something heavy, that isn't stupid, this is a good one.

Two decades ago, Steve Perry walked away from a legacy of carefree rockers and sentimental torch songs. His last recordings at the time, bonus tracks on a greatest hits comp, allowed him to stretch his elastic vocal cords to great heights, the likes of which he'd soared to with Journey and. in the early part of his solo career, with "Oh Sherrie."
The album is very much a classic Steve Perry record, full of dramatic schmaltz, nostalgia and the occasional rocker. Lead single "No Erasin'" could be a Journey song with its crashing piano and guitar riffs and Perry's reminiscences of hooking up with an old flame in the backseat of his car. "Sun Shines Gray" is a driving rocker that goes anyway he wants it (lots of slower, quieter parts for the singing and heavier parts in between). And "Most of All" drips with emotion as Perry croons for "the ones who've lost their most of all."

Here's another Joe Jackson album. This is an improved version of the obscure 1983 soundtrack to the movie "Mike's Murder." All the songs on the album were by Jackson, but it was promoted as a soundtrack album with Jackson's name only in very tiny print on the cover, and it was a movie that hardly anybody saw. On top of that, half the album was instrumental; including a song that went on for 11 minutes. So few treated it as his next album. -Original

Gerling were an Australian electronica, alternative rock trio formed in 1993. From early 1997 the members were Darren Cross on guitar and lead vocals, Presser (real name Paul Towner) on drums and Burke Reid on guitar and vocals. Their second album, When Young Terrorists Chase the Sun (September 2001), reached the ARIA Albums Chart top 50. It provided a top 50 single, "Dust Me Selecta" (August 2001). The group disbanded in 2007.
